While walking along...

... the road up to Germagnano you will find some signs: “salamandrine” waters. This is because in little water flows in these mountains you can find many small amphibious animals, like the Salamandra Pezzata and the tritone.

An amphibious animal is one that can live as well in water and on earth.

The Salamandra exits from its shelter above all during the evening, especially in rainy days. Its ignited colors carry out an important function for the predators, advising that annoying substances for the eyes and the mouth of the predator can be produced.

The Tritone has very beautiful colors that change according to the season and to its propension to be “romantic” (period of the reproduction). The main characteristic of this species consists in the skin color without dark spots. It adapts itself to warmer climates, from sea level up to 3000 meters.

Here lives also the Appennine Frog, especially close to the water courses. Among the various species of frogs, it is the one that leaves the water less and spend many hours on the bottom of streams with a weak run.
